Roadmap

The Earth Trust Coin Foundation was organised in San Francisco, California in 2024 and is hosted virtually and in Switzerland. The Project was formed by a group of altruistic business and legal professionals seeking to balance care for flora, fauna, the environment, societies and individual dignity with sustainable, digitally transactable value.

The journey

Where we are

  • 2024 Complete

    The journey begins. The Foundation is organised in San Francisco, California and the Project takes shape around a simple idea: a currency whose floor of value is land and carbon-neutral gold, held in trust.

  • 2025 Complete

    Foundation website launched. The White Paper and Foundation Governance Plan are published (v1.1, 26 January 2025), setting out privacy, security, transparency, community, education and inclusion.

  • 2026 In progress

    Earth Trust Coin Project research. Working with research institutions and vendors on the questions that must be answered before scale — soil science, impact planning, cryptography and insurance-linked risk modelling.

    Website rebuilt and expanded (27 August 2026). A full redesign of earthtrustcoin.org with a visual identity drawn from the EHTC coin, in-depth explainers and diagrams of the reserves, the peer-to-peer exchange and Risk Lending, an expanded Learn and Transparency section, and a privacy-first cookie preference helper.

Recent updates

Publishing what changes and when is one of the Foundation's transparency duties. These are the updates to earthtrustcoin.org and to the Project documents.

27 August 2026

White Paper & Governance Plan — version 1.2

Both documents were first published on 26 January 2025 as version 1.1 — a title page and appendix. Version 1.2 adds the full body text and aligns it to this website.

  • Project White Paper v1.2 — 12 pages: reserve architecture, the coin lifecycle, supply mathematics, the P2P DAO exchange, Risk Lending terms, custody and neutrality, project administration, the research roadmap, a glossary and risk factors.
  • Foundation Governance Plan v1.2 — 11 pages: the “monitor, do not rule” separation, the four pillars, the complete 27-organisation stakeholder roster, the transparency and liability-event review process, and ESG standards.
  • Each document carries a Document Control table recording the change from v1.1 to v1.2.
  • Contact particulars refreshed across the site and the documents.

Website rebuilt

  • Every page redesigned on a new system — responsive layout, a visual identity drawn from the Earth Trust Coin coin, and clearer typography.
  • New diagrams on the Overview page: the 1 km² + 1 oz backing model, the first-in / first-out exchange queue with a worked example, the Risk Lending flow, and the finite-supply range.
  • The Project page now carries both documents inline with full summaries.
  • The Learn page adds a plain-language glossary alongside the blockchain, cryptocurrency and privacy videos.
  • The Transparency page reorganises the full roster of connected organisations into labelled categories with locations.
  • Added an XML sitemap, a robots file and a custom “page not found” page; removed a legacy third-party translation script and external style/script dependencies.

Privacy & cookie controls

  • A cookie content manager: a consent banner on first visit, a preference dialog with a switch for each category, and a link in the footer of every page.
  • The Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal is honoured as a decline.
  • Embedded YouTube video players on the Learn page load only after you opt in.
  • A new Cookie notice on the Legal & Privacy page, with a table of what is stored and why.

Foundation website launched

The first public site, with the White Paper and Foundation Governance Plan published as version 1.1 — setting out privacy, security, transparency, community, education and inclusion.

Each area maps to a named collaborator on the Transparency page.

Soil & land

Soil analysis and engineering; responsible forest management standards.

Impact planning

Climate-change research and environmental-economic accounting.

Cryptography

Privacy and security review of the wallet and exchange.

Risk modelling

Insurance-linked securities structure for the Risk Lending Wallet.

Follow the work

Roadmap updates are one of the Foundation's core duties. Software progress is published in the open.
